Frequently Asked Questions
How can I tell if my roof needs replacing?
There are a number of signs that you may need to repair or replace your roof. The most obvious is water leakage that appears in the attic or in the ceilings of rooms below the attic space. Wind driven rain can get under shingles and through damaged underlayment (tar paper). Missing, cracked, or damaged shingles can allow seepage. Damaged flashing around vents, chimneys, eaves, and skylights can allow water to penetrate . Also, if you notice a dramatic change in heating or cooling bills, that may be another sign of serious roof problems.
When can you do my roof job? How long will it take? Do I have to be home?
Once the details of the roof for your home have been decided the materials must be ordered and delivered to site. Usually the complete process from beginning to end takes 3-4 days. Normally we do not need someone to be home at the time the actual work is being done.

How long will my new roof last?
Your roof can be damaged by all the elements over time - rain, wind, sun, ice, condensation, leaves and other debris. Keeping your roof clean and in good repair will ensure the maximum life of the roof.
Can I cover over my existing roof?
Manufacturers' will not warranty an installation over a wet or faulty substrate. Unfortunately, "faulty" is usually not defined until warranty repairs are required. There are also other concerns when re-covering old roofing material. The deck structure must be able to support the extra weight of another roof. It’s crucial that roofing insulation beneath the existing membrane be dry and in good condition. Re-covering wet insulation will likely shorten the life of the re-cover system. Energy loss also increases when roof insulation is wet.
All things considered, we do not recommend this as an option.
How can I best prepare for the installation of my new roof?
During the course of your roof being re-done there will be times when it is necessary for the crews to hammer and make loud noise. This may cause enough vibration to shake items inside your home down. Remove all loose items from walls and shelves.
